The Cragg family from Wyresdale had a history of keeping diaries - often from one generation to another.

Timothy Cragg

Timothy Cragg was a member of the Cragg family who lived in Wyresdale from, at least, the 17th century.  The Cragg family were prominent Quakers in the area and over many generations members of the family kept diaries.  A short summary of Timothy Cragg's life can be viewed here.

Lancashire archives possesses a copy/transcription of a diary originally started by a Timothy Cragg which may or may not be the Timothy Cragg above.  Since the diary covers a period of over 100 years it cannot have been written by the same person.  LA suggest that it might have been David Cragg.  If true is is unlikely to be the David Cragg below since, as mentioned in the "comparison" section, the same events are written up differently.

This diary can be found here.

Kelsall diary.  A copy of this diary was passed to the webmaster for transcribing by George Mason.  George was a distant descendant of the Kelsalls/Craggs.  A copy has been donated to Lancashire Archives.

David Cragg kept diaries from 1787.  The transcribed sections, taken from "The Craggs of Greenbank" by Georgina Fandrey, only go as far as his emigration to Canada in 1825.
