After several years on this site, we have made the decision to close down the site. Most of the site, away from the trees, has been investigated but, in the end, any further investigations would involve the removal of the trees. This is not something we wish to do.

We wish to thank all those who have contributed to the unravelling of this site. Colin for it’s discovery, Kev (who at one stage wanted to live there), Andy J, Simon, Helen… the list goes on. There is sadness at closing down the site without revealing its true age but it was a lovely site, in amazing surroundings, and we shall miss it.
Addendum
On the 12th June, Simon & Dave visited the site to make it secure. The trench on the eastern side was back-filled and a number of other hazardous areas secured. The main structure was left open for others to appreciate our efforts.
It was decided to investigate one last area of the site – the south-eastern corner, just outside the main building. A cobbled path leads to an area suspected as being a midden. This turned out to be true. Large quantities of glass, treacle ware and other bits of broken Victorian pottery appeared.
