Presentments : —
1. The Inhabitants of the Borough for not repairing a certain part of the Road leading to Ribbleton, beginning at the Church Gate and ending at the Turn of the Hill on the or [other] side of Messrs. Swainson and Chippendale's Factory, And if the same is not well and sufficiently repaired within one Month after Notice we amerce them in the sum of one Pound one shilling.
2. John Watson the elder of the Borough afsd Merchant for not cleansing and scouring a Ditch belonging to his Land on the North Side of Ribbleton Lane and at the End of the Moor End Houses And if the same is not well and sufficiently cleansed and scoured within 14 Days after Notice We amerce him in the sum of 10s.
3. James Meadow of the Borough afsd Malster for not cleansing and scouring the Ditch belonging to his Close of Land called the Mill Croft And if the same in not done within 14 Days after Notice We amerce him in the Sum of 10s.
4. The Major, Bailiffs and Burgesses of the Borough of Preston for not repairing the Channell running across Church Gate and into Cocker Hole And if the same is not well and sufficiently repaired within 14 Days after Notice We amerce them in the sum of £1. 1s. 0d.
5. Nicholas Starkie, of Frenchwood, Esq., for not cleansing and scouring a Watercourse opposite James Thompson's Dyehouse, in Cockerhole, And if the same is not done within 14 Days after Notice we amerce him in the sum of £1 1s. 0d.
6. William Tomlinson of Preston afsd skinner for laying and placing Dirt and very offensive Materials opposite his Skin Yard in the Minspit Weend to the Great Nuisance of the Inhabitants and of all Persons passing that way And if the same is not removed and the Road well and sufficiently cleansed within 2 days after Notice We amerce him in the Sum of 10s.
7. Thos. Winckley, of Preston, Esqr., and the Representatives of the late Miss Stanley for not repairing a certain Wall in a place within Preston called the Coffee Garden, and wch separates and divides that place from the Road down the Minspit Weend, and if the same is not well and sufficiently repaired within 14 Days after Notice We amerce them severally in the sum of £1 1s. 0d.
8. The Mayor, Bailiffs and Burgesses of the Borough of Preston for not repairing the Channel in the Pavement in St. John's Lane And if the same if not well and sufficiently repaired within 14 Days after Notice We amerce them in the Sum of £1. 1s. 0d.
9. John Smith of Preston afsd Tallow Chandler for throwing Soap Wash and other filthy and offensive Articles at improper Hours down the Channel in the Back Weend to the very great Nuisance of all the Inhabitants and other persons passing that way and for every such offence if continued after Notice We amerce him in the sum of £10?
10. The Inhabitants of Farther Barn Street within the said Borough for not keeping the Street or Channel in repair opposite their respective houses And if the same in not well & sufficiently repaired within two Months after Notice We Amerce them in the Sum of £5. 5s.
11. The Inhabitants of Feeble Street within the said Borough for not keeping the said Street in repair opposite their respective Houses and if the same is not well and sufficiently repaired within one month after Notice We amerce them in the sum of £3. 3s. 0d.
12. Francis Chadwick of the Borough aforesaid Merchant for obstructing the ancient watercourse running from Feeble Street thro' his orchard near such street by great detriment and Inconvenience arises to the Inhabitants there, and if the same is not well and sufficiently opened and cleansed and such obstructions removed within 14 days after notice We amerce him in the sum on £1. 1s. 0d.
13. John Watson the younger of Preston aforesaid Merchant for laying a Dunghill in the Back Lane near the March House whereby all passengers are greatly obstructed and for not cleansing a necessary there for want whereof the adjoining Road is rendered very filthy and offensive, and if such Dunghill is not removed and such necessary cleansed in one week after notice we amerce him in the sum of £1. 1s. 0d.
14. Edwd Brown of the Borough afsd Chapman for not cleansing a certain Necessary belonging to him behin[d] the Starch House for want whereof the adjoining Road is rendered very ffilthy and offensive and if the same is not sufficiently cleansed within one week after Notice we amerce him in the sum of £1. 1s. 0d.
15. Robert Abbatt and the other proprietors of the Quakers' meeting house for laying a quantity of Rubbish in the Back lane adjoining such Meeting House, and if the same is not removed within 3 days after notice we amerce them in the sum of 10s.
16. Robert Hilton of the Boro' afsd Dealer in Corn for laying a Dung hill in the Backlane to the great Nuisance of all persons passing that way and if the same is not removed within 1 week after Notice We amerce him in the sum of 10 shillings.
17. James Norris of the Boro' aforesaid for laying a Dung hill in the Backlane within the said Boro' to the great nuisance of all persons passing that way and if the same is not removed within one week after notice we amerce him in the sum of 10 shillings.
18. Matthew Cuerden of the Boro' afsd Carter for setting his Carts and Carriages in the Fryergate and suffering the same to remain there to the great inconveniance of all passengers and if the same are not removed immediately after notice hereof or he continues so to do we amerce him in the sum of 5s.
19. Geo. Taylor of the Boro' afsd Carpenter for setting and placeing his Carts and Carriages in the Fryergate and suffering the same to remain there to the great inconvenience of all passengers And if the same are not removed immediately after Notice hereof or if he presumes to continue to set or place such Carts or Carriages there We amerce him in the sum of 5s.
20. Thomas Livesey, Matthew Cuerden & Henry Cuerden all of the Boro' afsd Labourers for not removing the Dunghills opposite or near their Houses in the House of Correction weend and if the same respectively are not removed immediately after Notice hereof We amerce them severally in the sum of 5s.
21. William Briggs, Richard Baines and Thurstan Wiggans all of the Boro' afsd for setting and placing Carts and Carriages in the Fishergate and suffering the same to remain there to the great inconvenience and danger of passengers and if the same are not removed immediately after Notice hereof or if they presume to suffer the same to be there placed in future we amerce them severally in the sum of 5s.
22. Edward Abbatt of the Boro' afsd for placing several Carts in the Back lane within the said Boro' and if the same are not removed immediately after Notice or if he presumes to do so in future We amerce him in the sum of 5 shillings.
23. Thomas Winckley of Preston Esq., for not scouring the Ditch in the Brewery Lane in Preston aforesaid belonging to his Field on the East side of such Lane And if the same is not done within 21 days after Notice We amerce him in the sum of £1. 1s. 0d.
24. John Hankinson Gentleman, John Joseph, James Vernon Esq., Edwd Lodge Gent and Mrs Hornby, for pulling and placing Rubbish in the Ditch or watercourse near the bottom of their respective Gardens in the Fishergate by means whereof such Ditch or watercourse is very much obstructed, and if the same is not removed and their respective part of the said Ditch or Watercourse cleansed within 10 days after Notice We amerce them severally in the sum of 5 shillings.
25. ______ for not repairing the Channel on the foot path before their Dwelling houses in the Fryergate And if the same is not repaired within 7 days after notice We amerce them in the sum of ______ shillings.
