Jury

1. The Pinders Henry Barnes and John Gurnall for not impounding four Cowes of Widdow Beesleys, one cow of Willm Mittons and one cow of Thomas Goodshawe (psons not free of this Towne) but suffering the said Goods to goe & depasture on ye Marsh And for that Offence wee Amerce ye sd Pinders in ten shillings a peece.

2. Severall Shopkeepers and tradesmen wthin this Town hereafter named haveing each of them taken one or more Apprentices haveing served them One month or more and yet have not entred and Inrolled them according to an Order of the last Guild Mercnt. Therefore wee Amerce them severally in Twenty shillings a peece for not inrolling the same before the Twenty second of ffebruary last according to a former prsentmt for that purpose of the last Jury Leet.

3. Edwd. Craven and Richard Pedder for not scoureing their ditches and lopping their hedges belonging to their Closes in Lancr Lane before the Twenty second of ffebruary past according to a former prsentmt. And wee Amerce them in Six shillings and Eight pence a peece.

4. Mr John Chorley for letting a midding lye att his barne end in the ffoot way downe to the Sykes And doe Amerce him in Six shillings and eight pence If hee does not remove the same before the first of August next.

5. John Colly for not scouring his ditch att the bottom of his Croft adjoyning to the Sykes before the first of May According to the Thirty fourth prsentmt of the Inquest of Office and Order that fine of Six shillings and eight pence to stand.

6. The said John Colly that he doe sufficiently scoure the said ditch on or before the first of August next and amerce him in Tenn shillings if the same bee not well done within the time aforesaid.

7. Adam Cooper for layeing a midding in the Lane leading to the Schoole house And do amerce him in six shillings and eight pence if he does not remove the same before the Twenty nynth of September next.

8. Mr John Chorley for laying a Midding betwixt the Schoole house and Avenham and for not removeing the same according to a presentmt of the Inquest of Office before the ffirst of May last and order the fine of Six shillings and eight pence to stand.

9. Mr Birch, Mr Lodge and James Clayton for laying middings of Manure in the Lane betwixt the Schoole house and Avenham And doe Amerce them in Six shillings and eight pence apeece If the remove not the same before the Eleventh of November next.

10. Mr Alderman Winckley for not opening and Scowreing his watercourse att the Close called the Sykes and doe Amerce him in Six shillings and eight pence If he goes not sufficiently open and Scowre the same before the Tenth of September next upon due Notice in the meane time given him by the Pinders.

11. The severall psons followeing for that they did not score their ditches, lopp their hedges and open their watercourses att the bottom of their Closes in the South meadow Lane according to the fforty first prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office And doe order the severall ffines Imposed by the said Inquest of Office to stand vizt.

Henry Thorpe three shillings and four pence, Mr John ffrancks twenty shillings, Thomas Goodshaw Six shillings and eight pence, George Birchall Six shillings and eight pence, Henry Graddwell Six shillings and eight pence, Margt Woods widdow thirteen shillings and four pence, Mr Nicholas Walmsley Six shillings and eight pence, John Woods jun Six shillings and eight pence, Hugh Tootell Six shillings and eight pence, Richard Jackson for Alston meadow Thirteen shillings and four pence, John Woods senr Thirteen shillings and four pence.

12. Richard Jackson for not opening his watercourse & scoureing the ditch att Alston meadow hee haveing been presented severall time And doe Amerce him in fforty shillings If hee does not open and Scoure the same before the Tenth of September next.

13. Hugh Tootell for not opening his watercourse and Scoureing his ditch att the side of Alston meadow lyeing in the South meadow Lane and doe fine him in Tenn shillings If hee doe not sufficiently open and scoure the same before the Tenth of September next hee haveing been formrly prsented & neglects the same.

14. Ann Towning widdow for that shee did not scoure her ditch in the North meadow Lane according to the fforty first prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office and Order the ffine imposed by them being Three shillings and four pence to stand.

15. Wee Amerce the said Widdow Towning in Thirteen shillings and four pence If shee does not sufficiently open and scoure the said ditch before the first of September next shee haveing slighted the former prsentmt made for that purpose.

16. These psons followeing for that they did not scoure theire watercourses according to the fforty second prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office in that ffishergate Lane and doe order the fines imposed by the said Inquest. vizt.

John Woods senr, six shillings and eight pence.

Willm Markland, six shillings and eight pence.

17. Wee amerce the said John Woods senr & Willm Markland in Tenn shillings a peece If they doe not scoure the same watercourses before the ffirst of September next.

18. Alderman Addison for that hee did not remove his midding lyeing before his barne att the ffishergate Towne end according to the prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office and order the ffine of six shillings and eight pence imposed upon him to stand And wee doe Amerce him in Thirteene shillings & four pence If the same bee not removed before the Tenth of November next.

19. The psons followeing for that they have not paved their Cawseys before their barnes & stable doores in the ffishergate Lane vizt.

Alderman Addison, John Hodgkinson and Mrs ffrancks according to the fforty ffourth prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office && Order the severall ffines of six shillings and eight pence a peece to stand And wee present & Amerce the psons above menconed in the like Sumes of six shillings and eight pence a peece If they doe not severally repair their severall pts. As alsoe Mr Thomas Clayton in six shillings and eight pence if his Cawsey not repaired before the Twenty ninth of September next.

20. Mr Alderman Addison for that hee did not lay open a Watercourse att the side of Roper Croft according to the fforty ffifth prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office And doe Order the ffine of six shillings and eight pence imposed by the said Jury to stand And wee doe Amerce the said Mr Addison in the further sume of six shillings and eight pence If the said watercourse bee not layd Open & scowred before the ffirst of October next.

21. Mr Alderman Lemon for that hee has not brought back a stone that was taken away from the platt in the South meadow Lane according to the fforty sixth prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office and order that the fine imposed by them of six shillings and eight pence to stand.

22. Chrofer Moone and Mr Robert Revald for that they have not musled their Mastyffe dogs according to the fforty seventh prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office and doe Order that the severall ffines of six shillings and eight pence imposed upon them doe stand And wee doe further prsent that the said Chrofer Moone and Mr Revald doe forthwith and for the future keep their Dogs musled on paines of six shillings and eight pence a peece more.

23. Henry Parr & Hugh Tootell for neglecting their Offices being viewers of fflesh and ffish by suffering unwholesome flesh and fish to be sold in the publick Market of this Town and doe order the severall sumes of Thirteen shillings and four pence a peece imposed on them by the last Inquest of Office to stand.

24. The said Henry Parr & Hugh Tootell for their further negligence in their said Office by suffering unwholesome fflesh and ffish to bee since sold in the Market (severall Informacons for that purpose being given agt them) And wee therefore amerce them in the further sumes of thirteen shillings and fours pence a peece.

25. The sevrall psons following for that they did not removed their middings in St. Johns Weend according to ffifty sixth prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office & Order the sevrall sume of six shillings and eight pence apeece imposed on them to stand. vizt.

26. Henry Turnley for that hee did not repaire the ffence betwixt his house in the ffryergate in p[osse]ssion of John Bamber & others and the house of Isabell Rimer according to the ffifty eight prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office being much in decay and doe order the ffine of Thirteen shillings and four pence thereby imposed on him to stand. And doe Amerce him the said Mr Henry Turnley in the further Sume of Thirteen shillings and four pence If hee does not Repaire the said ffence on or before the Eleventh of November next.

27. The sevrall psons following being occupants or owners of the Lands adjoining to Salter Lane for that they have not scoured their ditches, lopped their hedges lyeing after their Lands according to the Sixty second prsentmt of the Inquest of Office and doe order the severall fines of six shillings and eight pence thereby imposed on them to stand. vizt.

28. The said sevrall psons in the further severall sumes of six shillings and eight pence a peece if they doe not severally scoure their said ditches and lopp the said hedges before the second of October next.

29. Henry Hodgkinson that hee has not opened his watercourse to draw water out of Salter ditch according to the Sixty Third prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office and doe order the fine of Twenty shillings imposed by them to stand.

30. The said Henry Hodgkinson that he before the Twenty first of August next open the said watercourse sufficiently (being the antient watercourse) or in defalt thereof wee Amerce him in fforty shillings the same being very prejudiciall and scarse passable which is occasioned for want of the same being scowred.

31. George Eastham for keeping and unlawfull dogg unmusled being accustomed to Byte People passing on the way to Rible Bridge And doe fine and Amerce him in Tenn shillings.

32. The severall psons followeing for not scowring their ditches lyeing to their feilds in Ribleton Lane and according to the Seventh prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office and doe Order the ffines of Tenn shillings severally layd upon the psons hereafter menconed to stand. vizt.

John Merry, George Eastham, Jonathan Audland, Jo. Jackson, Richard Jackson, Mr Richard Langton, Mr William Shawe, Alderman Sudell and John Kellett. And wee presnt the said severall persons in the further Summe of Tenn shillings a peece If they doe not sufficiently scoure and Repaire the same before the first day of October next.

33. The severall psons followeing for that they did not scoure their ditches and cutt or lopp their hedges in the Lane betwixt Ribleton Lane and New hall Lane called Deagergate Lane according to the Eleventh prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office and doe Order the said severall sumes of six shillings and eight pence a peece imposed by the said Jury to stand. vizt.

34. The severall psons last above menconed And doe Amerce them in the further Sumes of six shillings and eight pence a peece If they doe not sufficiently scoure theire ditches and lop their said hedges on or before the first of October next.

35. The severall psons followeing for that they have not scoured their ditches in the New hall Lane according to the Twelth psentmt of the last Inquest of Office And doe Order the severall fines of six shillings and eight pence a peece imposed by that Jury to stand. vizt.

James Twiceday, Henry Watson, Thomas Lever, John Crabtree, Alexandr Johnson Esqre, John Merry, Thomas Hodgkinson and Edward Walker And wee doe Amerce them in the further sumes of six shillings and eight pence a peece If they doe not sufficiently scoure their said ditches and Lop their said hedges before the first of October next.

36. The supvisors of the Highway for that they have not repaired the Cawseys in New hall Lane and Swillbrooke [crossed out], the Lane from Graystocke house to Swillbrooke and the lane and Ramper betwixt New hall Lane and Swillbrroke and Toogood Lane according to the Thirteenth prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office and doe Ordr the ffine of fforty shillings imposed on them by the sd Jury to stand.

37. The said Supvisors in the further Sume of fforty shillings if they doe not sufficiently repaire & amend the said Cawseys and Rampire before the ffirst of October next.

38. The sevrall psons following for that they have not removed their Middings or Manure lyeing in Newhall Lane according to the ffourteenth prsentmt of the last Inquest of Office and Order that the sevrall sumes of six shillings and eight pence imposed upon them doe stand. vizt.

Tho. Patten Esqre, Edwd ffarnworth, Richard Jackson and Thomas Lever. And wee doe prsent & Amerce the said sevrall psons if they doe not remove their said Middings and Manure before the first of October next in the surther sumes of six shillings and eight pence a peece.

39. Thomas Lever carting over the Cawsey in Newhall Lane and thereupon doe Order the fine of Six shillings and Eight pence imposed upon him to stand.

40. Thomas Patten Esqre and Thomas Lever for that they have not scoured their ditches and lopped their hedges belonging to their Closes betwixt Newhall Lane and Swilbrooke nor open Swilbrooke according to the Sixteenth presentmt of the last Inquest of Office and Order the fines of Thirteene shillings and four pence imposed upon them by that Jury to stand and wee Amerce them in the further Sumes of Thirteene shillings and four pence a peece If they doe not sevrally scoure their said ditches and lop their said hedges and open Swilbrooke aforesaid as presented before the first of October next.

41. Thomas Patten Esqre for that hee has not sett a Style and layd the platt even lyeing betwixt his close and Swilbrooke according to the Seventeenth prsentmt of the said Inquest of Office and Order the fines of six shillings and eight pence thereupon imposed to stand And doe Amerce him in the further Sume of six shillings and eight pence If the same bee not sufficiently done before the ffirst of October next.

42. Henry Turnley for stopping the watercourse betwixt the house in the pssion of Thomas Becket and the house belonging to Mr Alderman Lemon And doe Order the said Henry Turnley to lay Open the said watercourse & likewise to remove the midding stead on the back of the said house (The Nasty water drenching upon the Wall belonging to Mr Lemon) On or before the ffirst of October next on paine of Thirteen shillings and four pence.

43. The sevrall psons followeing and doe Amerce them in six shillings and eight pence apeece for letting their middings lye as Nusance in St. Johns Weend And Order that they pay the same unles the said middings bee removed on or before the Twenty fourth of August next. vizt.

44. The sevrall psons followeing for letting their manure lye in St. Johns weend from the building late called the Chappell downe over against the Ancker And Amerce them in six shillings and eight pence a peece If they doe not remove the same before the ffirst of October next. vizt.

John Salter, Henry Hodgkinson, The Occupyers of Lady Hoghtons Tyths, James Garstang, Alice Garlick, Thomas Molyneux Esqre, Isabell Carr, Mrs Dorothy Wall, William Holder, Mr William Patten, Mr Willm Parkinson and John Woods senr.

45. The Bayliffes of this Corporacon — that they doe repair and pave the Cart way in St. Johns weend leading from opposite the Anchor up to the end of the building late called the Chappell (the same being very much in decay and dangerous to travellers in passing through the same) on or before the first of October next, or in default thereof wee Amerce them in the sume of five pounds.

46.John Rideing and John Osbaldeston for getting whins upon the Moore contrary to the Gild Order and Amerce them in One shilling a peece.

47. Lawrence Bayley for digging upon Preston Moore and getting sods thereon without Leave And Amerce him in Two shillings and four pence.

48. The sevrall psons followeing for letting Carts and wheels stand in the street and layeing wood in the same And Amerce them in Three shillings and four pence a peece. vizt.

49. The Supvisors of the Highway for not makeing a sufficient Cawsey betwixt the end of the new Cawsey and John Bayleys house the same being very much in decay and Amerce them in Thirty shillings if the same bee not done before the first of October next.

50. Ann Hall widdow & Thomas Lectmore for stopping the antient watercourse att Jane Walmsleys house and doe Order them to lay open the same before the Thirteenth of August next on paine of Thirty shillings.

51. George Cutler butcher for exposing (and Killing) rotten and unholsome mutton to sale And doe Amerce him in Two shillings and Six pence.

52. John Ratcliffe for keeping a Mastiffe dog unmusled being accustomed to run and bite people And doe amerce him in Six shillings and Eight pence If hee does not forthwith musell the said dog or hang him.

53. Sevrall psons hereafter named for that they did not appeare att this present Court Leet being duly Sumoned by the Sarjt. not haveing craved and had leave from Mr. Maior or Mr Recorder for their Absence And therefore wee Amerce each of them to pay Three shillings and four pence apeece. vizt.
