1. Mrs Dorothy Wall of the Hide hill was formerly presented to raise a ffoot Cawsey to bee made before her lands and out houseing in St Johns weend and had reasonable time allowed her for the doeing thereof which shee totally neglected. Therefore for that her default wee Amerce her in twenty shillings And doe hereby direct that shee cause the said Causey to be sufficiently made & finished att or before the tenth day of September next Or for default thereof wee amerce her in Twenty shillings more.

2. Upon our own observation & upon the Informacon given to us by the house lookers of & within this Towne Doe fine and prsent the severall psons followeing who are free of this Incorporacon And yet take upon them to inhabite, keep publick houses, and follow Trades and imployments therein to the manifest prjudice of the free Inburgesses inhabiting within this Town, And therefore doe fine and amerce the said sevrall psons in Tenne shillings a peece And order that upon notice to them Respectively given by the Sarjeant they severally remove out of the Towne or compound and agree with Mr Maior and the Councell for their respective freedoms before the Twentieth day of September next Otherwise wee recomend it to Mr Maior and the Councell to endeavour the remedying of the grivance soe farr as by Law they can. vizt. Wee find in the ffryergate.

3. The prsent Bayliffs of this Incorporacon and the Supvisors of the highways within this Towne in Tenne shillings a peece unlesse they well and sufficiently repaire or cause to bee well and sufficiently repaired & amended to platt stones upon the Ramper or platt upon ffryergate Moore before the said tenth day of September next.

4. John Woods the elder of this Towne in Two shillings for suffering his ffence to lye downe and open and which hee ought to make betweene him and Dorothy Comberall widdow to the great prjudice and anoyance of the said Dorothy Comberall, And doe further amerce him the sd John Woods in ffive shillings more unless hee sufficiently make the same or cause it to bee made before the fifteenth day of September next.

5. Thomas Martin gen & Willm Walmsley yeom[an] both of this Towne in Tenn shillings apeece unless they make, place & sett a sufficient wood bridge over the watercourse called Bugmore holes oposite to ye Marshwell att or before the first day of September next.

6. The severall persons hereafter named All shoppkeepers ot Tradesmen within this Towne haveing each of them taken one or more Apprentices which have served them a Month or more and yet have not entered or inrolled them according to an Order of the last Guild Merchant. Therefore wee amerce them severally in Twenty shillings apeece and they stand sevrally formerly presented in each of them twenty shillings touching the same for not doing the same by the first day of Aprill last the time limitted by the last prsentment in that behalfe thay haveing had in the meane time notice of the said prsentmt.

7. Thomas Riley for letting his wood lye in the backe weend and makeing a sawe pitt there and not removeing the said wood & filling up the said Sawe pitt by the time prfixed by a former prsentmt. for that purpose but on the contrary suffering the same soe to remaine unremoved & unfilled up. Therefore wee doe order him to remove the said wood and fill up the said sawe pitt betwixt and the first of September next or fine him in Twenty shillings more.

8. The sevrall psons followeing viz. Richard Crosse, Henry Graystocke, Willm Walmsley, Susan Barrow, James Holte, John Bayley and George Bennett for putting their geese upon Spittle mosse and the Marsh & sufferring them there to remaine and feed upon & eate the grasse without lycence soe to doe And doe fine them in each Two shillings and six pence.

9. Thomas Lever for letting his dung hill lye in the high way att the end of Salter lane to the stoppage of the way over against his doore And fine him in six shillings and eight pence unlesse hee remove the same by the said first of September next.

10. Thomas Lever and Hugh ffarrrington and Edward Walker the prsent occupyers of the nearer Whittacres for not filling up the two holes on either side the stile leading into the said Whittacres, but letting water and mudd stand & lye therein very dangerous to passengrs who passe over that way in the night as well as a publicke annoyance to the neighbours thereabouts, And doe therefore fine them in Twenty shillings apeece unless they fill up the same betwixt & the said first day of September next.

11.John Salter for Incroaching with his garden ditch into Salter Lane for a length of a yard or thereabouts And for not scowreing the said ditch whereby much water stands in the said Lane and makes the way very foule and dangerous And wee doe fine him in Twenty shillings unless hee remove and throw downe the said Incroachment and scowre the said ditch att or before the said first day of September next.

12. The said John Salter for suffering his two dunghills to lye in the Back weend to the Stoppage of the way there And fine him in Six shillings & eight pence unless hee remove and carry away the same by the time aforesaid.

13. Henry Hodgkinson gen for not cutting and laying open a Ditch att the side of his Garden wall to carry of the water now standing soe deep and foule in Salter Lane And therefore doe fine him in six shillings and eight pence unless he make and lay open the same by the time aforesaid.

14. Mr Alderman Winckley, Mr Alderman Addison, M r John Loxam, Mathew Read and John Hodgkinson butcher for letting their dunghills lye in the ffishergate Backweend And doe fine them in six shillings and eight pence apeece unless they remove them by the time aforesaid.

15. Margaret Woods widdow for suffering water to stand in her middingstead in the Backweend to a great and dangerous depth and not filling upp and paveing the same in the bottome to prevent water standing there, Nor setting rayles to prevent people falling therein. Therefore for as much as the same (as it now is) Is very dangerous as well for neighbours as strangers in the night time And wee being informed of severall that have fallen therein for want of railes and have been in danger to bee stifled in the nauscious water and dung there. Wee doe fine the sad Mrs Woods in twenty shillings unless shee either sett railes on the out side to prevent danger of people falling therein Or cleanse the same and fill it upp and pave and make the same even and not deep soe as water may not hereafter stand therein betwixt and the said Twentieth day of September next.

16. The Bayliffes of this Incorporacon that they sett Railes about severall publick wells within this Town of a Convenient heighth and distance soe as to prevent both horses from watering there and people from falling therein by night And unless they doe the same before the first day of September next wee fine them in five pounds.

17. The said Bayliffes that they cause Davill bridge and all other the severall wayes, bridges, railes & broken streets within this Town (and which belongs to them to take care on) to bee well repaired by the Twentieth day of September next Or fine them in ffifty shillings.

18. John Woods the younger of this Town for suffering his middingstead to lye soe lowe and deep ye Stinking water stands therein and drenches & runns through the Wall and soe into the Backside of Mr George Cockshutt to his hurt and annoyance And doe fine the said John Woods in Six shillings Eight pence unless hee amend the same soe as to prevent & remove the said Nusance before the said first of September.

19. The Supervisors of the highways in and about this Towne for not repaireing ffishergate Lane, Ribbleton Lane, the house of Correction Lane, Salter Lane, St. Johns Lane and the back Lane leading from St. Johns Weend to the ffryergate Barrs and other the severall Lanes & highwayes about this Towne And doe fine them in five pounds six shillings and eight pence unless they cause them to bee respectively well and sufficiently repaired and amended by ye Twentieth day of September next.

20. The psons followeing vizt. Henry Heaton, Henry Bullen, Willm Dolphin and George Eastham all of this Town for keeping Mastive Doggs or Bull doggs & not keeping them Musled for want of which are dangerous, Therefore wee fine them in one shilling a peece.

21. James Garstang of this Towne for steeping & ??? hemp in a pitt upon the moore or Comon belonging to this Town therefore corrupting the water therein wch may be prejudiciall to Cattle going on ye sd Comon & may drink of the sd water. Therefore for that his offence wee fine him in one shilling.

22. John Bostock, John Hodgkinson, Willm Blackledge, James Hodgkinson, George Shorrock and Evan Eastham butchers in twelve pence a peece for slaughtering their sheep and other Cattle in the open streets contrary to an Order of the last Guild Merchant.
