Great Court Leet held on October 20th, 1668; Edward Rigby, Steward, being again the only Court official mentioned. Presentments : —

1. Ellize Makin for yt hee contrary to ye 26th prsentmt of ye Jury Leet in October 1667 doth contineu ye exercise of Agardinr wthin this Burrough not being a ffreeman of this Burough for wch hee was amerced to pay xiijs iiijd. And for every month then after hee should followe ye same exercide to fforfeit xls. wee therefore prsent and say yt ye said Ellis Makin shall pay ye said ffyne and for every month hereafter shall forfeit xls.

2. Willm Woodward yt hee shall paire his Copp and ye hedge and scowre ye platt and watercourses at Titmouse croft before ye seacond day of ffebruary next upon paine of vjs. viijd for his formr neglect wee amerce him in iis iiijd.

3. Mr John Cottam shall scowre his ditch at Bury field and by Tytmouse croft before ye seacond day of ffebruary upon paine of vjs. viijd.

4. Richard Tyson and Thomas Arkwright Execr of Richard Richard Turner, and John Helme ownrs of Lands in moore Lane if the cut theire hedges and paire theire copps there before ye seacond day of ffebruary next upon paine of vjs. viijd. apiece.

5. Elizabth Woodhouse for yt she hath erected a privy on ye backside of her house and likewise layeth dung and worthing close to a bricke wall of Willm Weardens wch is a great nusance to him and other Burgesses of this towne by noysom runing of ye Excremts from ye said house of office and midding through ye said wall into ye backside of ye said William Wearden as appeares upon our owne viewe and formr prsentmts, Therefore ye said Elizabeth Woodhouse shall remove her midding from ye said wall and ye water and Excremts soe it may run its usuall way before ye seacond day of ffebr next upon paine of ____

6. Nicholas Watson for laying sevrall Timber trees and other wood in ye street before his dore in ye ffryergate, to ye great nusance of ye Burgesses of this towne and ye hazard of theire lives and limbs by falling over or upon ye same in ye night time wee doe Amerce for ye time past vis. viijd., And vis. viijd. more for every week after, untill hee remove ye said wood cleare out of ye street.

7. Henry Gregson Sadler for yt his wife doth keepe an unruly and unlawfull sowe and suffers her to goe abroad in ye streets contrary to sevrall ordrs of this towne wch sowe hath pulled sevrall sacks in ye towne market apiece to ye great Damage of ye ownrs, thereof and ye great losse of theire corne, And therefore wee doe find ye said Henry Gregson in xxs. And for ye future unles(s) hee keepe upp ye said sowe or otherwise sell or dispose of ye said sowe forth of this towne wthin six dayes after notice upon Henry Gregsons wife to pay vjs. viijd. more.

8. Yt ye sevrall psons hereundr named have not taken ye oath of A Burgesse and therefore wee desire Mr Maior to send for ye said psons and tendr them ye said oath, upon ye refusall of any such pson wee find them sevrally in iijs. iiijd apiece.

11. Luke Greenfield keepes a very unruly sowe and suffers her to go about in ye streets, and hath pulled ye meat from ye shopp boards of Butchers in ye Shambells, and spoyled theire meate, therefore ye said Luke Greenfield shall keepe upp ye said sowe or otherwise forfeite vis. viijd.

12. Yt Luke Greenfield, John Greenwood, John Wruston?, Alice Tomlinson and ye occupers of ye house late Lawr Mittons doe contrary to ye 32 prsentmt of ye Jury Leet in October 1667 give theire swine meate at theire house dores in the weend Leading to Minspitt well and formrly have set swine troughs there to ye great nusance of All neighbours and Burgesses of this towne and likewise to ye great prjudice of ye highway leading through ye said weend not only by ye Dung of ye said swine underfoot & ye noysome smell occasioned thereby, But also ye spoyling of ye said well by any inundacon of Showers wch carries ye said Excremts into ye said well, All wch bee dangerous to ye health and welfare of ye Burgesses of this towne and to ye great dishonnor and discredit of this Burrough, And in Contempt of ye Authoryty thereof and therefore have forfeited vjs. viijd apiece for ye time past And for every weeke they shall continue to ffeed theire swine in ye open weend to fforfeite vis viijd. more apiece And wee desire Mr Maior to cause his officers to see ye same observd and ye ffines aforesaid paid.

13. Elizabeth Woodhouse widdowe yt shee hath Erected aporch standing upon 2 posts into ye street at her house and incroached wth her Seller staires there and was by Mr Maior and his Councell Rented to pay xs p(er) ann(um)m And yt ye same rent is in arreare and was never paid or incerted in ye townes Rentall, wee doe therefore desire yt ye same rent wth ye arrearage thereof may be collected accoringly.

14. Upon prusall of fformr prsentmts yt Edward Taylor stands presented for an Incroachmt at his shopp in ye fryergate in length 3 yards & a halfe and in bredth one halfe yard and as yet not rented. Wee desire ye same may be rented.

15. Nicholas Watson hath incroached upon ye townes wast at his now house in the ffryergate wth apaire of Celler staires and hath beene prsented and affeared to bee rented by Mr Maior and Councell but as yet is not, therefore wee desire ye same may bee rented and incerted in ye townes rental.

16. Upon puseall of formr prsentmts sevrall psons following have beene prsented for theire incroachmts into ye streets at theire sevrall houses and have beene afreared to bee rented but as yet find them not to bee rented, therefore wee desire Mr Maior will cause ye same rented and ye moneyes Collected.
